<title> STARFLEET Office of Emergency Preparedness (OEP)</title>
			<link>http://www.sfi.org/portal/index.php?option=com_content&amp;task=view&amp;id=630&amp;Itemid=50</link>
<description>Are you ready for a disaster? Do you have emergency supplies set aside in case there's some sort of disaster? Natural or man-made? Does your family have an emergency plan? How about your workplace? For many people, planning for an emergency or disaster isn't a priority.
If you are ready then please bear with me. If not, then please &quot;hear&quot; me out. It's not too late. Even a little preparation is better than no preparation.

<title>Project proposal open to levels and chapters of Starfleet. ...</title>
			<link>http://www.sfi.org/portal/index.php?option=com_content&amp;task=view&amp;id=621&amp;Itemid=50</link>
<description>Please consider joining the crew of the U.S.S. Star League in wishing the crew of STS-134, the final flight of the Space Shuttle Transport System, by adding your chapter's signatures to a &quot;best wishes&quot; card (good luck card) currently being assembled by the Star League's crew.
Once completed, the card will be sent to the commander and crew of the space shuttle Endeavor STS-134 about one month prior to their historic mission which will end this era of manned flight.
The Shuttle program began with ties to Star Trek, so let us show them that we still care.

<title>Update on the NASA Authorization Bill</title>
			<link>http://www.sfi.org/portal/index.php?option=com_content&amp;task=view&amp;id=622&amp;Itemid=49</link>
<description>issued a statement (http://planetary.org/about/press/releases/2010/0729_Planetary_Society_Urges_Debate_on_NASA.html) about the request that the U.S. House of Representatives suspend the rules when voting on the NASA Authorization bill, saying, in part, &quot; The future of the space program is too important to rush through a controversial change in policy.&quot; The following is an update to that statement.
&quot; It ain't over 'til its over.&quot; The Congressional calendar for today shows that the NASA Authorization bill will not be considered by the House of Representatives. The Coalition for Space Exploration (of which the Planetary Society is a member) is reporting that they have heard that the bill will not be considered. It seems that opposition from many space interests (including us) helped to convince the House leadership that it was not right to rush this bill through without adequate debate and possible amendment.

<title>$H*! My Dad Says - The First Review</title>
			<link>http://www.sfi.org/portal/index.php?option=com_content&amp;task=view&amp;id=617&amp;Itemid=106</link>
<description>&quot; When 79 years old you reach, have a hit sitcom, will you?&quot; For most of us, it's unlikely. But for William Shatner, it's just the next step in a long and often outrageous career that's seen him establish one of the most parodied dramatic pauses in cinematic history, give the galaxy a dashing starship captain, a tough Los Angeles cop, an over-the-top Priceline.com spokesman, and an Emmy Award winning attorney with an ego even bigger than Shatner's itself!
And now, at the age of 79, William Shatner takes on the role of Ed Goodson, touted as the Archie Bunker of the 21st century. Based on the real-life father of writer Justin Halpern, who simply started wring down quotes from his father Sam last year on Twitter, millions of followers and one #1 bestselling hardcover later, CBS green lighted a new series whose name you can't say on TV without bleeping the first word of the title. But the show's content is anything but unspeakable. It's actually quite lovable and embracing...and certainly hilarious.
